Larry Gilbert (baseball)

Larry Gilbert (born November 27, 1890, died April 19, 1971) was an American professional baseball player and manager. He primarily played as an outfielder and infielder during his playing career.

Gilbert's professional playing career spanned from 1912 to 1927. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for parts of three seasons: 1913 with the Philadelphia Phillies, 1914 with the Boston Braves, and 1923 with the Washington Senators.

After his playing career, Gilbert became a successful minor league manager. He managed the Nashville Vols of the Southern Association for a remarkable 21 seasons, from 1939 to 1959. He led the Vols to multiple league championships and was highly regarded for his player development skills and strategic acumen. Gilbert's long tenure and success in Nashville earned him legendary status within the organization and the Southern Association. He was known for his dedication to the team and the city, contributing significantly to the baseball culture of Nashville.
