Daniel Lee (politician)
Daniel Lee (born August 13, 1969) is an American politician and aerospace engineer serving as a member of the Inglewood City Council since 2013. He also served as the Mayor of Inglewood, California from 2018 to 2022.
Lee was born in Los Angeles and raised in Inglewood. He graduated from Morningside High School before earning degrees in engineering from Caltech and UCLA. Prior to his political career, Lee worked as an aerospace engineer.
In 2013, Lee was elected to the Inglewood City Council. During his time on the council, he has focused on issues such as affordable housing, environmental protection, and economic development. He has also been a vocal critic of the development of SoFi Stadium and the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, expressing concerns about their impact on the city's residents.
Lee was elected mayor of Inglewood in a special election in 2018, following the death of Mayor James T. Butts. He served until 2022 when he was defeated for re-election by Butts.
Lee is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. His political positions generally align with progressive causes.
