Robert Crawford (historian)
Robert Crawford is a Scottish historian and academic specializing in modern Scottish history and literature, particularly the relationship between Scottish identity and culture, and Scottish contributions to intellectual life.
Crawford is known for his work on poets such as Hugh MacDiarmid and Edwin Morgan, and on the broader cultural and political context of Scotland in the 20th and 21st centuries. He has also written extensively on Scottish cinema and on the history of Scottish education.
He is currently a Professor of Modern Scottish Literature at the University of St Andrews. Previously, he held positions at the University of Glasgow and the University of Auckland.
Crawford's research explores themes of nationalism, modernism, and the role of the arts in shaping national identity. He is a prolific writer and commentator on Scottish affairs.
