Cristian Álvarez (footballer, born 1985)
Cristian Darío Álvarez Congiú (born November 13, 1985) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Spanish club Real Zaragoza.
Álvarez began his career in Argentina with Rosario Central, where he emerged from the club's youth system. He made his professional debut in 2006.
In 2008, he moved to Europe, signing with RCD Espanyol in Spain's La Liga. He spent several seasons at Espanyol, often competing for the starting goalkeeper position.
After his time in Spain, Álvarez had stints playing in various leagues, including a return to Argentina. He also played in Mexico with UNAM Pumas and Cerro Porteño in Paraguay.
In 2017, Álvarez joined Real Zaragoza in Spain's Segunda División. He quickly established himself as the team's first-choice goalkeeper and has remained a key player for the club. He is known for his shot-stopping ability and experience.
Álvarez has also represented Argentina at the international level. He was part of the Argentina squad at the 2011 Copa América.
