Constance Smith (née Herbert)
Constance Smith (née Herbert) (born October 29, 1928, Limerick, Ireland – died July 25, 2003, London, England) was an Irish actress, known primarily for her work in British and American films during the 1950s.
Smith began her career in Ireland, working as a model before moving to London to pursue acting. She quickly gained attention and signed a contract with the Rank Organisation, appearing in several British films, including "The Mudlark" (1950).
Her success led to a Hollywood contract with 20th Century Fox. She starred in a number of films, often playing glamorous or morally ambiguous characters. Some of her notable American films include "Man in the Attic" (1953), "The President's Lady" (1953), and "Imitation General" (1958).
Smith's career was impacted by personal struggles, including alcoholism and domestic issues. She faced legal troubles and experienced periods of reduced film work. Her acting career began to decline in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
