Colin Murphy (footballer, born 1944)
Colin Murphy (born 22 July 1944) is an English former professional footballer and football manager.
Murphy played as a midfielder. His playing career included spells at Worksop Town, Sheffield Wednesday, Scunthorpe United, and Doncaster Rovers.
Following his playing career, he moved into management. He is best known for his long and successful periods in charge of Lincoln City. He managed Lincoln City on three separate occasions (1972-1985, 1986-1990, and 1990-1993). During his first spell, he led the club to the Fourth Division title in 1976 and established a club record of going 26 league games unbeaten in the 1978-79 season.
He also managed Southend United (1985-1986) and York City (1993-1994).
