Cwmbrwyno
Cwmbrwyno is a hamlet in Ceredigion, Wales. It is located in the Cambrian Mountains, approximately 7 miles (11 km) east of Aberystwyth. The name "Cwmbrwyno" is Welsh, meaning "valley of Brwyno," with Brwyno being a personal name.
Historically, Cwmbrwyno was associated with lead and silver mining. The Cwmbrwyno Mine, located nearby, was operational at various times from the Roman period until the late 19th century. The remains of the mine workings, including shafts and spoil heaps, are still visible in the landscape.
Today, Cwmbrwyno is a sparsely populated rural area. Agriculture, particularly sheep farming, is a primary economic activity. The area is also popular with walkers and cyclists due to its scenic location within the Cambrian Mountains.
