Clue (1998 video game)
Clue is a computer game based on the popular board game of the same name, also known as Cluedo in some regions. Developed by Hasbro Interactive, it was released in 1998 for Microsoft Windows.
The game largely replicates the gameplay of the board game. Players take on the roles of the classic Clue characters, such as Miss Scarlett, Colonel Mustard, and Professor Plum, and must deduce the murderer, murder weapon, and location of the crime. This is accomplished by moving around the game board, entering rooms within Tudor Mansion (or a similarly themed mansion depending on the game variant), and making suggestions.
During a suggestion, the player names a suspect, a weapon, and a room. Other players, if they possess any of the suggested cards, must secretly show one of those cards to the suggesting player, thereby eliminating that possibility. The goal is to be the first player to correctly accuse the murderer, weapon, and location.
The 1998 Clue video game includes animated characters, sound effects, and different difficulty levels. It allows players to compete against the computer AI or against other human players in a hotseat mode. The game's graphics and sound were considered decent for the time of its release, and it offers a faithful digital adaptation of the traditional board game experience.
