Inborn (band)

Inborn was an American death metal band formed in Tampa, Florida in 1992. The band was initially known for its brutal, technical style of death metal, influenced by acts like Suffocation and Cryptopsy.

History:

Inborn was founded by guitarist/vocalist Robert Proctor and drummer Jason Wilkie. The band went through several lineup changes in its early years before solidifying with the addition of bassist Rick Frondorf and rhythm guitarist Mike Knox.

In 1995, Inborn released their debut album, State of Disgust, on the independent label Repulse Records. The album showcased their aggressive sound and technical prowess, garnering them attention within the underground death metal scene.

Following the release of State of Disgust, Inborn continued to tour and perform at various metal festivals. Internal conflicts and creative differences, however, led to frequent personnel shifts and ultimately hampered their momentum.

In 1998, the band released their second and final full-length album, Apathy Towards Humanity, on Drowned Productions. While still retaining elements of their earlier brutality, Apathy Towards Humanity also displayed a more progressive and experimental approach to songwriting.

Inborn disbanded in the late 1990s. Former members have since been involved in various other musical projects within the death metal and hardcore scenes. Despite their relatively short lifespan, Inborn is remembered by some as a significant, albeit lesser-known, act in the 1990s Florida death metal scene.
