David Hamilton (broadcaster)

David Hamilton (born 25 August 1938) is a British radio and television broadcaster. He is best known for his long career in radio, primarily as a disc jockey playing popular music, particularly from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.

Hamilton began his broadcasting career in the late 1950s and gained prominence in the 1960s as a presenter on pirate radio stations, including Radio Caroline. He later joined the BBC, where he presented shows on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 2 for many years. His relaxed style and knowledge of music made him a popular figure with listeners.

Beyond his work for the BBC, Hamilton has also worked for numerous independent local radio stations and national commercial stations, including Capital Gold and Saga Radio. He has also appeared on television, both as a presenter and as a guest on various shows.

Throughout his career, Hamilton has been a strong advocate for the music of the past and continues to broadcast and host events featuring artists and music from his favored era. His autobiography, "The Golden Days of Radio," details his experiences in the broadcasting industry.
