Varinder Singh (field hockey)

Varinder Singh (1947-2022) was an Indian field hockey player. He was a member of the Indian national team that won the bronze medal at the 1972 Munich Olympics, the silver medal at the 1973 Hockey World Cup in Amsterdam, and the gold medal at the 1975 Hockey World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. He also competed at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. He played as a defender. Following his playing career, he served as a coach and selector for the Indian national team. He was awarded the Arjuna Award in 2007 for his contributions to the sport.
