Chaw (film)

Chaw (also known as Chawz and alternatively titled Man-Eater) is a 2009 South Korean horror-comedy film directed by Shin Jung-won. The film centers around a mutated, giant wild boar terrorizing a small, peaceful town.

The plot follows Kim Kang-su, a disgraced police officer reassigned to the rural Sammaeri after being involved in a scandal in Seoul. Shortly after his arrival, a series of mysterious deaths occur, initially attributed to wild animals. However, it quickly becomes apparent that a massive, intelligent, and carnivorous boar is responsible. Kim teams up with a big-game hunter, Baek Man-bae, a zoologist, and a local hunter to track down and eliminate the creature.

Chaw blends elements of monster movies, comedy, and social commentary, referencing the clash between rural and urban life in South Korea. The film utilizes both practical effects and CGI to bring the boar to life.
