Brutalism (The Drums album)

Brutalism is the fifth studio album by American indie-pop band The Drums, released on April 5, 2019, through Anti- Records. The album is a solo project entirely written, recorded, and produced by frontman Jonny Pierce following the departure of guitarist Jacob Graham.

The album's title, Brutalism, refers to the architectural style, but, more significantly, reflects the thematic content exploring Pierce's personal struggles, anxieties, and emotional vulnerabilities with raw honesty and a direct, unadorned approach. This departure from the band's typically more upbeat and carefree sound showcased a darker, more introspective side.

Lyrically, Brutalism delves into themes of mental health, loneliness, heartbreak, and the search for identity.
