Boylagh
Boylagh is a barony located in County Donegal, Ireland. It is one of the eight historic baronies within the county. Baronies were administrative divisions of Irish counties, originating as subdivisions of counties palatine. While baronies no longer have any administrative function in local government, they are still officially defined units and are sometimes used for geographical or statistical purposes. Boylagh is situated in the southwest of County Donegal, encompassing a significant portion of the coastal region. The terrain is largely mountainous and rugged, with a scenic coastline dotted with bays and inlets. The name Boylagh is derived from the Irish "Baile Locha," meaning "townland of the lake." The principal towns and villages located within the historical Barony of Boylagh include Dungloe, Burtonport, and Annagry. The area is known for its traditional Irish culture, including the Irish language, which is still spoken in some areas. Its economy is based predominantly on tourism, fishing, and agriculture.
