Yeatesia
Yeatesia is a genus of orchids belonging to the subtribe Spiranthinae within the tribe Cranichideae, part of the subfamily Orchidoideae. These orchids are typically found in the southeastern United States, Central America, and the West Indies.
Yeatesia orchids are terrestrial herbs characterized by their fleshy, often hairy roots and a basal rosette of leaves. The inflorescence is a spirally arranged spike bearing numerous small, white or greenish flowers. The flowers are resupinate (inverted), and the lip is often saccate or spurred.
The genus is named in honor of botanist Gilbert Keith Yeates. The number of species within the genus has varied over time with ongoing taxonomic revisions and molecular studies.
