Bob Levy (New Jersey politician)

Bob Levy (born c. 1946) is an American politician who served as the Mayor of Margate City, New Jersey. He is notable for the controversies surrounding his tenure, particularly regarding claims about his military service and related legal issues.

Levy was first elected as mayor in 2003. His mayoral campaigns centered on promises of fiscal conservatism and improved city services.

During his time in office, Levy faced significant scrutiny over the accuracy of his claims regarding his military background. He publicly stated he was a Vietnam War veteran and a decorated Navy SEAL. Investigations by news organizations, including The Philadelphia Inquirer, revealed inconsistencies in these claims. Specifically, there was no record of him serving as a Navy SEAL, and his military service appeared to be limited to a brief period in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
