Bleachers (band)
Bleachers is an American indie pop act formed in 2014 by Jack Antonoff, primarily known as the lead guitarist of the indie rock band Fun. and as a songwriter and producer for various artists. Bleachers functions primarily as Antonoff's solo project, although he collaborates with other musicians both in the studio and during live performances.
The band's music is characterized by its anthemic choruses, 1980s influences, and introspective lyrics often exploring themes of youth, loss, and anxiety. Antonoff has described the project as his own personal outlet for expressing feelings and experiences not necessarily suitable for his other musical endeavors.
Bleachers has released four studio albums: Strange Desire (2014), Gone Now (2017), Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night (2021), and Bleachers (2024). The band has also released several EPs and singles.
In addition to Antonoff, the live band has often included musicians such as Mikey Freedom Hart, Sean Hutchinson, Zem Audu, and Evan Smith. Bleachers has toured extensively and performed at numerous music festivals. Antonoff's songwriting and production work with other artists, including Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Lana Del Rey, has significantly raised Bleachers' profile and contributed to its mainstream success.
