Basthorst
Basthorst is a village and a former municipality in the Herzogtum Lauenburg district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Since January 1, 2016, it is part of the municipality of Möhnsen.
Basthorst is situated approximately 30 kilometers east of Hamburg and about 10 kilometers southwest of Schwarzenbek. The local economy is largely agricultural, though its proximity to Hamburg allows for some residents to commute to the city for work. The village is characterized by its rural setting and relatively small population.
Historically, Basthorst has been a part of the Duchy of Lauenburg, and later Schleswig-Holstein. Its history is intertwined with the larger regional history of the area, involving periods of Danish and German control.
