Elektra (band)
Elektra was a short-lived American hard rock band active in the early 1970s. Formed in Los Angeles, California, the band featured guitarist Danny Kortchmar, bassist Lee Sklar, and drummer Russ Kunkel. They are perhaps best known for being a predecessor to the more successful band, The Section, which featured the same core lineup of Kortchmar, Sklar, and Kunkel. Elektra released a single self-titled album in 1972 on Asylum Records. While the album was well-regarded by some critics for its musicianship and songwriting, it failed to achieve significant commercial success, leading to the band's disbandment shortly after its release. Despite their brief existence, Elektra's members went on to have highly successful careers as session musicians, playing on countless recordings for prominent artists across various genres.
