Anisaedus

Anisaedus is a rarely encountered Latin adjective. It is a compound word derived from anisum (anise) and a derivative of edo (to eat, consume). Therefore, anisaedus can be translated to mean "anise-eating" or "feeding on anise."

The adjective would typically be used to describe an animal or insect that consumes anise. Its usage is primarily found in scholarly texts relating to natural history or agriculture, and then very infrequently. The adjective is not found in classical Latin literature and seems to be a later coining, possibly within scientific classifications or descriptions developed after the classical period.

Grammatically, anisaedus follows the standard declension of first/second declension Latin adjectives, taking the forms anisaeda, anisaedum for the feminine and neuter genders, respectively.
