Tansila

Tansila is a town and a commune in the province of Yatenga, in the North Region of Burkina Faso. Located approximately 30 kilometers northeast of Ouahigouya, Tansila serves as the capital of the same-named department within Yatenga province.

Geography:

Tansila is situated in the Sahel region of Burkina Faso, characterized by a semi-arid climate and sparse vegetation. The landscape is primarily flat and sandy, with limited water resources.

Demographics:

The population of Tansila commune consists primarily of Mossi people. Agriculture and livestock farming are the main economic activities.

Administration:

Tansila is the administrative center of the Tansila Department. It houses local government offices responsible for providing services to the community, including education, healthcare, and infrastructure maintenance. The Mayor of Tansila leads the local government.

Economy:

The local economy revolves around subsistence agriculture. Common crops include millet, sorghum, and beans. Livestock rearing, mainly cattle, goats, and sheep, also contributes to the livelihoods of the people. There is limited industrial activity in Tansila.
