Eric Volz

Eric Volz is an American author and anti-human trafficking advocate who was wrongfully convicted of murder in Nicaragua.

In 2006, Volz, who co-owned a real estate magazine in Nicaragua, was accused of the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Doris Ivania Jiménez. Despite presenting an alibi and a lack of forensic evidence linking him to the crime, he was convicted in 2007 and sentenced to 30 years in prison. The case attracted international attention due to concerns about the fairness of the trial and the credibility of the evidence presented.

After a prolonged legal battle and diplomatic efforts, Volz's conviction was overturned in December 2007. He was released from prison and allowed to return to the United States.

Following his release, Volz has become an advocate for those wrongfully convicted and for victims of human trafficking. He authored the book Gringo Nightmare, detailing his experience in the Nicaraguan justice system. He is also the co-founder of the David House Agency, an organization dedicated to fighting human trafficking and providing support to its victims. His work focuses on raising awareness, advocating for legislative changes, and providing resources to combat this form of modern-day slavery. He frequently speaks at events and consults on issues related to wrongful convictions and human trafficking.
