André Luiz (footballer, born 1974)
André Luiz Moreira, (born November 14, 1974), commonly known as André Luiz, is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played primarily as a central defender, but was also capable of playing as a defensive midfielder.
André Luiz began his professional career in Brazil with São Paulo FC, where he established himself as a promising talent. His performances attracted attention from European clubs, leading to a move to Spanish side Tenerife.
After a spell in Spain, he returned to Brazil and played for several clubs, including Cruzeiro and Corinthians. He also had stints playing in France for Olympique de Marseille, and in Portugal for Benfica.
André Luiz was part of the Brazilian national team, earning caps and participating in international competitions. He was a member of the squad that won the 1997 Copa América.
Throughout his career, André Luiz was known for his strong tackling, aerial ability, and tactical awareness. He retired from professional football after a long and successful career in Brazil and Europe.
