F9 (film)
F9, also known as Fast & Furious 9 or Fast Saga, is a 2021 American action film directed by Justin Lin. It is a sequel to The Fate of the Furious (2017) and the ninth main installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. The film stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell, and Charlize Theron.
F9 continues the saga of Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and his crew as they face a new threat: Dom's younger brother, Jakob (Cena), who is working with their old enemy, Cipher (Theron). The film features the franchise's signature action sequences involving cars and high-stakes heists, and expands on the themes of family and loyalty. It also sees the return of Han Lue (Kang), who was presumed dead in previous installments.
Released theatrically in the United States on June 25, 2021, F9 received mixed reviews from critics. While praised for its action and entertainment value, it was criticized for its outlandish plot and lack of originality. Despite the mixed reception, the film was a commercial success, grossing over $726 million worldwide.
