Lori Fung

Lori Fung is a Canadian retired individual rhythmic gymnast. She is best known for winning the first-ever Olympic gold medal in rhythmic gymnastics at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Fung began rhythmic gymnastics at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a prominent figure in Canadian gymnastics. Her victory at the 1984 Olympics was a significant moment for the sport and for Canadian athletics, especially as the Soviet Union, a dominant force in rhythmic gymnastics, boycotted the Games.

Following her Olympic success, Fung continued to be involved in gymnastics as a coach, judge, and commentator. She has also been recognized for her achievements and contributions to the sport through various awards and inductions into halls of fame. Fung is considered a pioneer and role model for rhythmic gymnasts in Canada and beyond.
