Wu Shifan
Wu Shifan (吳世璠; died 1681) was the grandson of Wu Sangui and the second and final ruler of the Great Zhou dynasty (大周), a short-lived regime established during the Qing dynasty's Kangxi Emperor's reign. He took the throne in 1678 after his grandfather, Wu Sangui, proclaimed himself emperor and then died months later.
Wu Shifan inherited a rebellion already struggling against the Qing forces. He continued to resist Qing rule, initially with some success, but internal divisions and dwindling resources weakened his position. He was ultimately besieged in Kunming, the capital of the Great Zhou, and facing imminent defeat, committed suicide in late 1681. His death marked the final collapse of the Great Zhou dynasty and the definitive suppression of the Three Feudatories rebellion against the Qing dynasty. Following his death, Kunming surrendered to the Qing forces, and his body was subsequently identified.
