Once Bitten (1985 film)
Once Bitten is a 1985 American horror comedy film directed by Howard Storm, starring Lauren Hutton, Jim Carrey, and Karen Kopins.
The film centers on the Countess, an eternally youthful vampire in Los Angeles who must feed on virgin blood to maintain her immortality. After failing to find a suitable victim, she encounters Mark Kendall (played by Carrey), a teenage boy who mistakenly believes he's about to lose his virginity. The Countess seduces Mark, feeding on him and turning him into a temporary vampire.
The film follows Mark's increasingly bizarre behavior and physical changes as he deals with his newfound vampirism, while his girlfriend Robin (Kopins) attempts to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, the Countess contends with her loyal but eccentric servant Sebastian.
Once Bitten is known for its campy humor, 1980s fashion, and its early role in launching Jim Carrey's career. Although not a critical success upon release, it has since become a cult classic. The film explores themes of youth, aging, sexuality, and the consequences of immortality through a comedic lens.
