Agustín Álvarez (footballer, born May 2001)

Agustín Álvarez (born May 20, 2001) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a forward for Sampdoria, on loan from Sassuolo, and the Uruguay national team.

Career

Álvarez began his career with Peñarol in Uruguay, progressing through their youth ranks. He made his professional debut for Peñarol in 2020. He quickly established himself as a prolific goalscorer for the club, attracting attention from European clubs.

In January 2022, Álvarez joined Italian club Sassuolo.

In August 2023, Álvarez was loaned to Sampdoria.

International Career

Álvarez has represented Uruguay at various youth levels. He made his debut for the senior Uruguay national team in 2021.
