Again (band)
Again was an American progressive rock band active in the early 1970s. Formed in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the band released one self-titled album in 1972 on the Ampex Records label. The album showcased complex instrumental arrangements, intricate vocal harmonies, and a blend of hard rock and progressive elements, drawing comparisons to bands like Yes and King Crimson.
The band consisted of Dennis "Obie" O'Brien (vocals, keyboards, guitar, flute), Robert "Rob" Walker (vocals, guitar), Tom "Tank" Landrey (bass), and Rick "Ric" Wise (drums). Their musical style was characterized by extended song structures, sophisticated melodies, and philosophical lyrical themes.
Despite critical acclaim within progressive rock circles, Again did not achieve significant commercial success. Ampex Records encountered financial difficulties shortly after the album's release, hindering its promotion. The band subsequently disbanded, and its members pursued other musical endeavors.
Over time, Again has garnered a cult following among progressive rock enthusiasts. The album is now considered a minor classic of the genre and is often sought after by collectors. Reissues of the album have helped introduce the band's music to a new generation of listeners. While the band's active period was brief, their contribution to the progressive rock landscape remains notable.
