Abadiânia

Abadiânia is a municipality in the state of Goiás, Brazil. It is located in the central part of the state, approximately 90 kilometers from Brasília, the federal capital. Abadiânia gained notoriety as the location of the Casa de Dom Inácio de Loyola, a spiritual healing center founded by João Teixeira de Faria, also known as John of God. The town's economy is heavily reliant on spiritual tourism, attracting visitors from around the world seeking healing and spiritual guidance.

The municipality covers an area of approximately 1,044 square kilometers. Its population is relatively small, though it fluctuates considerably due to the influx of tourists. Agriculture and cattle raising also contribute to the local economy, though to a lesser extent than tourism.

Abadiânia has experienced significant growth and development in recent decades, largely attributed to the presence of the Casa de Dom Inácio. This growth has also brought challenges, including infrastructure strains and social issues related to the high volume of visitors.
