Benichab
Benichab is a locality and commune in the Dakhlet Nouadhibou region of Mauritania. It is situated approximately 60 kilometers southeast of Nouadhibou, Mauritania's second-largest city and economic center. Benichab is primarily a rural area with a population largely engaged in traditional activities such as pastoralism, fishing (in nearby coastal areas), and small-scale agriculture where possible. The climate is arid, typical of the Sahara Desert, which presents significant challenges for agriculture and water resources. Infrastructure in Benichab is limited, but it serves as a local administrative center for surrounding nomadic populations. Economic activity is constrained by the harsh environment and limited access to resources and markets. The population is predominantly of Mauritanian ethnicity.
