6546 Kaye is a main-belt asteroid. It was discovered on November 4, 1987, by Antonín Mrkos at Kleť Observatory in the Czech Republic.

The asteroid is named in honor of American astronomer G. William (Bill) Kaye (1917-2017). Kaye was known for his research and publications in optics, particularly pertaining to spectrographic techniques. He was also the founder of the spectrophotometry and spectrographic standards program at the National Bureau of Standards (now the National Institute of Standards and Technology).
