Karl McCartney (gridiron football)
Karl McCartney is a former professional Canadian football offensive lineman. He played nine seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL), primarily for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
McCartney played college football at Weber State University. He was drafted by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 1988 CFL Draft. He quickly became a key member of the Blue Bombers offensive line, known for his size and strength.
During his CFL career, McCartney won two Grey Cups with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 1988 and 1990. He was recognized as an All-Star selection multiple times and was considered one of the top offensive linemen in the league during his era.
After his playing career ended, McCartney remained involved in the football community, often participating in alumni events and charitable endeavors. He is remembered as a significant contributor to the success of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers during their championship years.
