Kamandi

Kamandi is the title character and protagonist of the DC Comics comic book series Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth. Created by Jack Kirby, the series ran from 1972 to 1978.

Kamandi is a young boy living in a post-apocalyptic future Earth, designated Earth A.D. (After Disaster). In this future, a mysterious global catastrophe has wiped out much of humanity and animal life. However, certain animals have evolved to become intelligent, bipedal, and capable of speech, forming various tribes and vying for dominance.

Kamandi possesses no inherent superpowers, but he is resourceful, brave, and possesses a strong moral compass. He is skilled in survival techniques and gradually learns to navigate the dangers of his world. He often relies on his intelligence and his developing understanding of the old world (our present) to overcome challenges.

The series follows Kamandi's adventures as he travels across the ravaged landscape, encountering different animal tribes, remnants of human civilization, and various other strange phenomena. Key themes explored in the series include survival, the consequences of environmental disaster, the nature of intelligence, and the struggle for peace and understanding in a chaotic world.

Notable supporting characters include Dr. Canus, a canine scientist, and various other intelligent animals, some friendly and some hostile, who aid or hinder Kamandi on his journey. The origin of the "Great Disaster" that shaped Kamandi's world is a recurring mystery throughout the series.
