1963 Federation Cup (tennis)

The 1963 Federation Cup was the inaugural edition of what is now known as the Billie Jean King Cup, a premier international team competition in women's tennis. Held in London, England, at the Queen's Club, it took place from June 15th to June 20th, 1963. Sixteen nations participated in the event. The United States team, consisting of Darlene Hard, Billie Jean Moffitt (later Billie Jean King), and Dorothy "Dodo" Bundy Cheney, won the title, defeating Australia in the final. The format of the competition involved a knockout tournament, with each tie consisting of two singles matches and one doubles match.
