Șor Party

The Șor Party (Romanian: Partidul Șor) is a political party in Moldova. Founded in 1998 as the Movement For Moldova "Ravnopravie" (Mișcarea social-politică Republicană "Ravnopravie"), it was renamed the Șor Party in 2016 when businessman Ilan Șor took over the leadership.

The party's platform has been described as populist and pro-Russian. It has advocated for closer ties with Russia and has been critical of Moldova's integration with the European Union. Ilan Șor, while leading the party, has faced accusations of corruption and financial fraud, specifically related to the 2014 Moldovan bank fraud scandal.

In June 2023, the Constitutional Court of Moldova declared the Șor Party illegal, citing its involvement in destabilizing actions and its violation of the Constitution. This decision effectively banned the party from participating in political life in Moldova. The ban was met with mixed reactions, with some supporting the decision as a measure to combat corruption and others criticizing it as a violation of political freedom.
