Yuna (Final Fantasy)

Yuna is a fictional character in the Final Fantasy series, primarily known as the main protagonist of Final Fantasy X and a central character in Final Fantasy X-2. She is a summoner, a devout follower of the teachings of Yevon, and embarks on a pilgrimage to defeat Sin, a monstrous entity that terrorizes the world of Spira.

As a summoner, Yuna has the ability to call upon powerful entities known as Aeons to aid her in battle. She achieves this through performing the Sending, a ritual that allows spirits to pass on to the Farplane. She is the daughter of High Summoner Braska, who previously sacrificed himself to defeat Sin.

In Final Fantasy X, Yuna travels with a group of guardians, including Tidus, Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri Ronso, and Auron. Throughout their journey, Yuna and her companions uncover the truth behind Yevon, Sin, and the cyclical nature of death and rebirth in Spira. She ultimately chooses to challenge the established religious doctrine and seeks a way to permanently defeat Sin.

In Final Fantasy X-2, set two years after the events of Final Fantasy X, Yuna becomes a sphere hunter, searching for clues and understanding about a mysterious sphere that contains images of a man resembling her lost love, Tidus. She joins the Gullwings, a sphere hunting group, and travels across Spira with Rikku and Paine. The story focuses on the political and social changes that have occurred in Spira since Sin's defeat, and Yuna's continued journey of self-discovery and independence.

Yuna's character is known for her compassion, dedication, and inner strength. Her design, particularly her attire and hairstyle, are influenced by Okinawan culture. She has consistently ranked high in popularity polls among Final Fantasy characters and is considered one of the most iconic female characters in video game history. She is voiced by Hedy Burress in the English versions of the games.
