Wolfsberg Castle (Harz)
Wolfsberg Castle is a neo-Gothic castle located near the town of Wolfshagen in the Harz mountains of Germany. Built between 1893 and 1896, it served as a hunting lodge and residence for Count Botho zu Stolberg-Wernigerode. The castle is characterized by its distinctive towers, battlements, and crenellations, reflecting the architectural style of historic medieval castles.
The castle complex includes not only the main castle building but also several ancillary structures, such as stables and staff quarters. The surrounding grounds are landscaped and forested, providing a picturesque setting.
Following World War II, the castle served various purposes, including as a hospital and a refugee shelter. It has since undergone restoration and is now used as a hotel and event venue. Visitors can explore the castle grounds and some of the interior spaces, experiencing the grandeur of the neo-Gothic architecture and learning about the castle's history. The castle offers panoramic views of the surrounding Harz landscape.
