John Capel (MP)
John Capel (born 1941) was a British Labour Party politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Watford from 1997 to 2001.
Capel was educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, and the London School of Economics. Prior to entering Parliament, he worked in marketing and public relations. He served as a councillor for Hertsmere Borough Council.
In the 1997 general election, Capel overturned a Conservative majority to win the Watford seat. During his time in Parliament, he served on the Trade and Industry Select Committee.
In the 2001 general election, Capel lost his seat to Claire Ward of the Labour Party. He subsequently returned to working in public relations.
