William Holms (politician)

William Holms (1843 – 1920) was a Scottish businessman and Liberal politician.

Holms was born in Paisley, Scotland. He was a partner in the family thread manufacturing business, J. & J. Holms, which had a significant international presence.

He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Paisley from 1874 to 1885. During his time in Parliament, he was a strong advocate for free trade and land reform. He was also interested in promoting education and supported measures to improve the quality of schools in Scotland.

Following his departure from Parliament, Holms continued to be involved in business and public life. He served as a Justice of the Peace and was active in various charitable organizations. He died in 1920.
