Hometime (album)
Hometime is the eighth studio album by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, released in 2002. The album marked a shift towards a more song-oriented and less overtly experimental sound than some of their earlier work, while still retaining elements of progressive rock, art rock, and ambient music.
Hometime features a combination of melancholic and atmospheric textures with heavier, more guitar-driven sections. Lyrically, the album explores themes of loss, nostalgia, and introspection.
Notable tracks on Hometime include "Blackest Eyes," which became a live staple for the band, "Russia on Ice," a multi-part piece showcasing the band's instrumental prowess, and the title track, "Hometime."
The album received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its songwriting and production. It is considered by many fans to be one of Porcupine Tree's most accessible and emotionally resonant albums.
The lineup on Hometime consisted of Steven Wilson (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Richard Barbieri (keyboards), Colin Edwin (bass guitar), and Gavin Harrison (drums).
