Trillian (software)

Trillian is a multiprotocol instant messaging application for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. It allows users to connect to and manage multiple instant messaging accounts from a single program.

Developed by Cerulean Studios, Trillian supports a variety of popular IM networks, including (but not necessarily limited to) AIM, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Facebook Messenger, Google Talk, XMPP, and IRC. This aggregation feature allows users to avoid having to run multiple separate applications to stay connected with contacts across different services.

Beyond aggregating different IM services, Trillian provides features such as contact management, customizable interfaces, notification settings, and message history. The application has evolved over time to include features like audio and video chat, file transfer capabilities, and support for plugins to extend its functionality.

Trillian differentiates itself from some competing multiprotocol clients with its focus on a consistent user experience across different IM networks, providing a unified interface for managing contacts and conversations regardless of the underlying protocol.
