Frank Blake (businessman)

Frank Blake (born 1949) is an American businessman who served as the chairman and CEO of The Home Depot from 2007 to 2014.

Blake graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in government and later earned a law degree from Columbia University. Before joining The Home Depot, Blake held several positions in the public and private sectors. He served in the administration of President Jimmy Carter, including a role in the Department of Energy. He also worked at General Electric in various executive positions, including as Senior Vice President, Corporate Business Development.

Blake joined The Home Depot in 2002 as executive vice president of business development and corporate operations. He was appointed vice chairman in 2006 and succeeded Bob Nardelli as CEO in January 2007. His tenure as CEO is generally viewed favorably, focusing on customer service, employee engagement, and a more collaborative management style compared to his predecessor. Under his leadership, The Home Depot navigated the challenges of the late 2000s recession and saw improved financial performance and customer satisfaction.

Following his retirement as CEO in November 2014, Blake remained chairman of The Home Depot until February 2015. He has since served on the boards of directors of several companies, including Delta Air Lines and Macy's. He is also involved in philanthropic activities.
