Jørgen Hansen (boxer)
Jørgen Hansen (born January 16, 1943) is a retired Danish professional boxer who was a prominent figure in European boxing during the 1970s and 1980s.
Hansen primarily competed as a welterweight and light middleweight. He is best known for his trilogy of fights against British boxer Dave "Boy" Green. These fights were highly anticipated and followed closely by European boxing fans due to the aggressive styles of both boxers.
Hansen held the European Boxing Union (EBU) welterweight title on multiple occasions. He also challenged for a world title, facing Wilfred Benítez for the WBC light middleweight title in 1976, though he was unsuccessful.
Known for his toughness and willingness to engage in exciting fights, Jørgen Hansen was a popular boxer in his native Denmark and throughout Europe. He retired from professional boxing in the early 1980s.
