Time (Rod Stewart album)
Time is the twenty-ninth studio album by British singer-songwriter Rod Stewart, released on 3 May 2013 in the United Kingdom and 7 May 2013 in the United States. It is Stewart's first album of original material since A Spoonful of Petrol in 2001. The album marked a return to songwriting for Stewart, who wrote or co-wrote 11 of the 12 tracks.
The album was produced by Kevin Savigar, who had previously worked with Stewart on several projects. Musically, Time blends elements of rock, pop, and folk. Lyrically, the songs explore themes of love, loss, regret, and nostalgia, drawing inspiration from Stewart's own life experiences.
Time was a commercial success, reaching number one on the UK Albums Chart, making it Stewart's first UK number-one album in over 30 years. It also charted highly in other countries, including the United States, where it peaked at number nine on the Billboard 200. The album spawned several singles, including "Brighton Beach" and "She Makes Me Happy." Critics generally praised Time for its songwriting and Stewart's vocal performances, with many noting its return to the sound of his earlier work.
