William Dietrich (novelist)

William Dietrich (born 1951) is an American novelist and journalist, primarily known for his adventure and historical fiction novels.

Dietrich was a science and environmental reporter for The Seattle Times for many years, winning a Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting in 1990 for coverage of the environmental impact of the Exxon Valdez oil spill. He later shifted his focus to writing novels.

His novel series include the Ethan Gage adventure series, featuring an American adventurer in Napoleonic Europe, and the Sean Drummond thriller series. He has also written standalone novels, often drawing on historical events and figures.
