85 Ceti
85 Ceti is a yellow dwarf star located approximately 41 light-years away in the constellation Cetus. It is slightly more massive and luminous than the Sun. Designated as a G8V star, it is similar in spectral type to our Sun, though slightly cooler.
85 Ceti is known to host at least one extrasolar planet, designated 85 Ceti b. This exoplanet is a gas giant with a mass several times that of Jupiter, orbiting the star in a relatively close-in orbit. The discovery of 85 Ceti b contributed to the growing understanding of planetary systems and the variety of planets that can exist beyond our own Solar System. Studies of the star and its planet continue to help astronomers understand the formation and evolution of planetary systems.
