Tragheim

Tragheim was a quarter, and subsequently a district, of the city of Königsberg, Prussia (now Kaliningrad, Russia). It was located north of the city center, bordering the Pregel River to the south and the Juditten suburb to the north.

Historically, Tragheim was one of the three original towns that merged in 1724 to form Königsberg, along with Altstadt and Kneiphof. It was known for its breweries and distilleries. Important landmarks within Tragheim included the Tragheim Church, the Burgkirche (Castle Church), and the parade ground known as the Tragheimer Palzwiese.

The district suffered heavy damage during the bombing raids of World War II and was largely destroyed. After the war, Königsberg became part of the Soviet Union and was renamed Kaliningrad. The area formerly known as Tragheim was subsequently rebuilt and integrated into the modern city of Kaliningrad, with little remaining of its original character.
