Mount Aberdeen (Alberta)

Mount Aberdeen is a mountain located in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. It is situated in the Bow River valley, west of Lake Louise, and is part of the Bow Range of the Canadian Rockies.

The mountain was named in 1897 by Walter Wilcox after John Hamilton-Gordon, 1st Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair, who served as the Governor General of Canada from 1893 to 1898.

Mount Aberdeen is a popular destination for mountaineering and scrambling. The standard route involves a moderate scramble up its south slopes. The ascent provides stunning views of Lake Louise, the surrounding mountains, and the Bow Valley. The peak is typically climbed during the summer months, and proper mountaineering experience and equipment are recommended due to the potential for loose rock and variable weather conditions.

The geology of Mount Aberdeen is characterized by sedimentary rocks, primarily limestone and shale, typical of the Canadian Rockies.
