Wife Swap (British TV series)

Wife Swap is a British reality television program that aired on Channel 4 from 2003 to 2009, and later revived in 2017 for a single series. The show is based on the same premise as its American counterpart of the same name.

Each episode involves two families, typically with contrasting lifestyles and values, swapping wives (or mothers in some instances) for a period of two weeks. For the first week, the "new wife" must adhere to the rules and routines of the host family, experiencing their daily life firsthand. During the second week, the "new wife" is allowed to implement her own rules and routines, changing the host family's lifestyle according to her own preferences.

The premise often leads to cultural clashes, disagreements, and emotional confrontations between the families. The show explores differences in parenting styles, household management, values, and social perspectives. At the end of the two-week period, the two families meet to discuss their experiences and address any conflicts that arose during the swap.

While the show aimed to be observational and explore social dynamics, it was also known for its dramatic editing and emphasis on conflict to maximize entertainment value. It generated significant media attention and public discussion due to its controversial premise and the often-volatile reactions of the participants. The series' success spawned international versions in various countries.
